My name is Morgan Pettersson.

I am a freelance journalist, having worked with online, print, radio  and television journalism, and as a foreign correspondent in both Greece and Indonesia.

I am passionate about journalism and writing and broadcasting stories, in particular environmental stories and the human stories behind the big headlines.

In 2014 I am based on Guadalcanal Island, Solomon Islands working as an Australian Volunteer for International Development.

In 2013 I was based in remote South East Sulawesi as an Australian Youth Ambassador for Development.

In early 2013 I journeyed to the end of the earth with twenty other young people from around the world on an expedition to Antarctica as an Antarctic Youth Ambassador to further communicate about the need to protect our environment.

In early 2012 I was based in Jakarta, Indonesia working on the international radio show Asia Calling through local radio station KRB68H.

In 2011 I was living in Thessaloniki, Greece after winning the GEJI (Global, Environmental, Journalism, Initiative) where I was working on environmental stories, and was able to cover the June riots and unrest for Australian press.

I graduated from a double bachelors degree at Murdoch University in Perth, Australia, majoring in Journalism, Public Relations and History.

I originally created this blog in order to post articles and stories about my travels and other freelance work which I write, although I will also post published works.

You can view a more detailed account of my work at my linked in profile here

Why am I so passionate about journalism?

Its simple, I love telling stories.

      Hi Alice!
I am not living in Jakarta anymore but it is a really great city and you are going to learn so much about Indonesian culture and life. If you have any questions feel free to ask me and I will help as much as I can 🙂
