An ode to fellow travellers

The road to the village

The road to the village….

‘Not all who wander are lost.’

Just because you are constantly seeking does not mean that you are running away.

Finding excitement in new places and adventures does not mean you are hiding.

Wanting to have new experiences in foreign places does not mean that you are turning your back on home.

For those who have never experienced the strange and mystical power that is wanderlust you will never understand.

For those who have, it will never leave you.

You spend your solitary stints at home dreaming of past adventures, yearning back for a time and place that you will never revisit.

Even if you do make your way back to that destination again, the time is gone, the people too and the experience will never be the same.

Travel in the moment.

Realise that these are the best days of your life without realising it.

Know they will never come back so live freely and passionately.

Make peace with the fact that those moments are gone once they occur, but that you have other ones to make.

Enjoy being home.

Enjoy being away.

Enjoy finding out about yourself, no showers for two weeks….oh well.

Be open minded.

Find your mind opening.

Stick to you morals.

Open your boundaries.

Learn to carry your life on your shoulders.

Discover how free you can be with only a small amount of possessions.

Record your thoughts, they will never come back to you.

Collect memories like butterflies.

Know that no one will ever understand you.

Know that wanderlust is what makes you, you.
